You can pay traffic tickets and file municipal complaints online at the NJMCdirect website.
Get My Towed Vehicle
Individuals seeking the release of a towed vehicle should report directly to the tow company’s vehicle impound yard, where a Police Officer will assist to expedite the vehicle release process.

Vehicle releases are available 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday until further notice. The Newark Police Division’s Auto Squad can be contacted at 973-733-5616 for additional information during these hours.
Submit a Crime Tip
You can help police solve and prevent crime in your neighborhood and together we can build a safer community. Citizens who have information about a crime can submit anonymous tips through a variety of sources depending on the nature of the crime.

Report Misconduct
While complaints made in person are preferred, we also accept complaints by phone, mail, email, or online. If you cannot come to us, we can come to a location suitable to you.
In-person: Visit the Office of Professional Standards on the 1st floor of 494 Broad Street, Newark, NJ, 07102. Go to any police facility and ask to speak to the highest ranking supervisor on duty.

Online: Fill out the Report Misconduct form in English | Spanish | Portuguese
Mail: Complete a citizen complaint form found at every police station. The form can be completed at a police facility or at home and mailed to: Office of Professional Standards, 494 Broad Street, 1st floor, Newark, New Jersey 07102
Citizens can also request to report misconduct at their Home or the location where the incident occurred. To request that a supervisor respond to your location and take your complaint, please call (973) 733-6000.
File a Police Report
Citizens may file a police crime report that occurred within the City of Newark, New Jersey limits assuming this is not an emergency, there are no known suspects, the incident did not occur on a State Highway or within the boundaries of the Newark-Liberty International Airport, and the person filing the report is 18 years of age or older. Reports can include criminal mischief, fraud, harassment, lost property, obscene telephone calls, simple assault, theft, and terroristic threats.

“Register Ready – New Jersey’s Special Needs Registry for Disasters” allows New Jersey residents with disabilities or access and functional needs and their families, friends, caregivers and associates an opportunity to provide information to emergency response agencies so emergency responders can better plan to serve them in a disaster or other emergency.
The information collected here is confidential and will not be available to the public. The information will be held securely and only used for emergency response and planning.
